Even though the thermometer says it’s in the 90’s it’s time to begin packing those summer eyelet dresses and strappy sandals away until next year. Yes it’s time to bring out your transition wear and start transforming your closet for fall. To help you dress for the season we have some of the hottest “Fashion du Jour”…….

1. Asymmetrical, show off those shoulders you’ve been working out
and tanning all summer long
2. Motorcycle Jackets, hands off boys; these jackets are for the
ladies
3. Impact Jewelry, who says less is more? Don’t take something
off before you leave the house instead put one more piece on
4. Accentuated Shoulders, it’s the best way to instantly slim your
waist without going to the gym
5. Ruffles, they’re not just for little girls any more
6. Leopard, it’s out, it’s in, it’s out, IT’S IN!
7. Exotic Skins, it’s time to take your bags and shoes up a
notch. Whether they’re embossed, printed, or the real deal,
just know they’re a must
8. Sheath Dress, every lady needs at least one great new dress
each season, this year make it a sheath
9. Leggings, Tights, Skinny Jeans, it’s all about the legs, but
then again when isn’t it about the legs?
10. Shine On, sequins and metallics aren’t just for nighttime
anymore. Bring on the bling!

Let it be said that shoes can make or break an outfit. Don’t get lazy on me ladies; if you are going to take the time to properly assemble the outfit then go all the way! This season it’s important to have a great pair of flats, a metallic shoe or perhaps a boot, tall boots (ones that allow you to tuck in your skinny jeans and leggings), shoe boots (it’s ok if they are peep toe you can wear your tights with them; I promise), a fantastic wedge, and a killer stiletto.

As for the bag guide here goes…….if all you own is one black bag and one brown bag then beg, borrow, or steal to upgrade your supply. Think detail, think exotic skin, think color, think hardware; whatever you do don’t stop until you have a special bag for the season. And don’t forget about a separate bag for evening. Your day bag, despite popular belief, does not double as a night bag. Yes even if you have the new Totally Monogrammed Louis Vuitton shoulder bag, like your children it too has a bed time.
Holidays 2008

The best decoration this season will be YOU, dolled up in the hottest holiday trends. Get ready to sparkle, shimmer and shine in updated metallics, sequins and velvet – black if you please!

When you need some downtime from the holiday glitz, soften your look with oatmeal and blue-pink hues. Grey and silver are also quieter colors for the season.

Remember that white does not need to be packed away with your memories of summer. But to keep from looking like Frosty the Snowman’s sidekick, do winter white right. Choose heavier fabrics like cashmere, wool and leather. Keep the look cool-weather appropriate by doing an off-white rather than a bright, crisp white.

Leather jackets (and pants, and skirts!) are very in this winter, but when the outside chill calls for something heavier, look for a structured coat. Add a touch of femininity with a tie at the waist, decorative collar or ruffle detailing. Grey, evergreen and eggplant add color while still staying seasonal.

Finally, don’t dare close those closet doors until you have acquired the ultimate New Year’s party dress. Wear it whether you’re spending the night out dancing or dining in with friends. Take a cue from the holiday emphasis on metallics, sequins and velvet, but most of all get something the makes you feel completely fabulous. The halls shouldn’t be the only things that get decked out for the holidays!

As a chill comes into the air, warm-weather styles are fading away with summer’s flowers. But with so many great trends to try this fall, revamping your closet is sure to be fun.

This season is all about rich colors. Think purple, army green, burnt orange and metallics. Grey, black and white will also make good choices, especially when shopping for fall’s menswear pieces for women. Think Katherine Hepburn – button down shirts, structured silhouettes, vests, button detailing and high-waisted, trouser-leg pants. Very classic.

When your more feminine side calls, do up this season’s romantic ruffles, pleats and lace. Dresses are a must have, whether it’s a shift, high-waisted cut or menswear inspired. You can’t go wrong with a solid or a print. Play up your legs by styling a dress with leggings, tights and leg warmers. You might try a solid dress with printed tights, or look for leg wear that adds some sparkle and shine.

Layering is big this fall, so choose cropped jackets, blazers, cardigans and chunky sweaters to top off your look. Wear longer shirts and big sweaters over leggings or a pair of skinny jeans. Skinny jeans work well in grey, black and dark denim and look fresh topped with leg warmers.

Of course, don’t forget the shoes. Boots are always a fall favorite, and this season is no exception. Try ankle boots, slouch boots and boots over the knee. When you’d prefer flats or wedges, look for shoes that add a punch of color (patent leather is a good choice) or interesting texture, like snake skin or suede.

Finally, accessorize with multi-strand necklaces, chunky cuff bracelets and big statement earrings and you’ll be frolicking in the autumn leaves with style.
